End of July, Martin Kocher, Federal Minister of Labor and Economic Affairs, visited the hydrogen storage facility in Rubensdorf.
After the first injection of hydrogen in recent months, the first withdrawal phase of the "Underground Sun Storage" project has now started.
“Zukunft Gas” from Germany invited a number of journalists from German specialist media to visit the “Underground Sun Storage” in Rubensdorf as part of a press tour end of May.
In May, a new visitor platform was opened on the site of the Rubensdorf hydrogen storage facility, from which visitors can see the entire facility.
Another milestone has now been reached in the "Underground Sun Storage 2030" project with the injection of hydrogen.
Construction is currently underway on a more than 7 km long hydrogen pipeline connecting the Rubensdorf hydrogen storage facility with station P-008 of the RAG Puchkirchen storage facility.
Just in time after the first half of the project period in the "Underground Sun Storage 2030" project, a workshop of all project partners took place in July in the main building of Energie AG in Linz.
The day after the opening of the "Underground Sun Storage" in Rubensdorf, on Friday afternoon there was an opportunity for interested residents and representatives of regional politics to visit the new facility and learn about the worldwide unique project.
On Friday, April 28, 2023, the day after the official opening by Austrian politicians, the "International Opening Event" for international stakeholders was held.
Two years after the start of the project, the storage facility was opened on thursday, April 27. On this occasion, various representatives of the Austrian press and politics as well as the project partners were invited to a press conference followed by a tour of the plant.
On December 22, 2022, another milestone was reached with construction of the electrolysis plant.
On June 21, 2022 the "Zukunftsforum Gas" took place at Vienna.

On April 26, 2022 an internal workshop was held together with the project partners at voestalpine Stahlwelt.
In the worldwide unique project "Underground Sun Storage 2030" (USS 2030), the safe, seasonal and large-volume storage of renewable energy in the form of hydrogen in underground, former natural gas reservoirs, is being developed.
